What Is a Tower Hoist and How Does It Work?
A tower hoist is a vertical lifting machine. A square steel mast stands against the building, a trolley slides up and down it, and a winch pulls the trolley with steel wire rope. A worker loads the bucket or platform at ground level, the operator starts the winch, and the load rises to the floor you need.
Built in 3 m Sections
Most of the mast is made in 3 m lengths, which makes it easy to transport and quick to assemble on site. The sections use straightened steel that resists twisting, so they stay true for years of repeated use. That matters on tall installations, where a slightly bent mast would cause trouble.
Proven at Height
Jaypee has erected a 2 ton winch up to 140 m on a live project, so the design isn’t only theoretical. Standard ratings are listed below.
Key Features of Jaypee’s Builder Hoist
- Diesel or electric drive: pick the power source that suits your site
- Extra-capacity winch: built with a margin over the rated load for added safety
- Friction roller drive: a dependable way of transferring power to the rope
- Safety braking device: holds the load when needed
- Heavy-duty trolley: an MS channel frame with guide rollers that keep it steady on the mast
Diesel or Electric?
This is the first decision most buyers face. Electric models run quietly and cost less to operate, which suits towns and cities with stable power. Diesel models work where the grid is poor or missing, such as rural projects, new layouts and hill roads. Think about where the hoist will spend most of its working life before choosing.
Tower Hoist Models and Specifications
Jaypee offers four models, in 1 ton and 2 ton classes, each with an electric (E) and diesel (D) version.
| Feature | JTH-1000 E | JTH-1000 D | JTH-2000 E | JTH-2000 D |
| Capacity | 1 ton | 1 ton | 2 ton | 2 ton |
| Material load (approx.) | 750 kg | 750 kg | 1500 kg | 1500 kg |
| Mast | Square | Square | Square | Square |
| Wire rope | 10 mm, 6 core | 10 mm, 6 core | 12 mm, 6 core | 12 mm, 6 core |
| Bucket volume | 0.3 m³ | 0.3 m³ | 0.4 m³ | 0.4 m³ |
| Max working height | 100 m | 40 m | 125 m | 70 m |
| Power | 10 HP electric | 10 HP diesel | 15 HP electric | 16 HP diesel |
Notice that the working height differs between electric and diesel versions of the same size. Electric models reach higher, so for tall buildings, check the height column before you decide.
Choosing the Right Size
Begin with your daily load. If you mostly carry bricks, sand and light finishing material for low and mid-rise work, a 1 ton model is enough. For heavier loads, larger buckets and taller buildings, the 2 ton class gives you more room. Then match the height to your structure. A diesel JTH-1000 D tops out at 40 m, so a ten-storey building might call for a different model.
Quality Checks Behind Every Machine
We bring the best innovations to this product, and at many levels we check even the smallest details, from procurement to raw materials, to keep our quality and standards high. Mast sections, wire rope, winch parts and welds are all examined before a unit leaves the factory, because a hoist is only as dependable as its weakest part.
Choosing the best Tower Hoist Manufacturer in India
When you compare suppliers, look beyond the price list. Ask each one about material testing, spare part supply and how fast they respond when a machine stops. As a Tower Hoist Manufacturer in India with its own factory at Howrah, Jaypee handles building and support under one roof.
Jaypee is also a Builder Hoist Manufacturer in India with offices in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai, so help is never far from your site. That network is useful when a spare is needed quickly in the middle of a project.
Share your building height, load type and power supply, and the team will suggest a suitable model. Call the 24×7 hotline on +91 90512 34444 or write to solutions@jaypee.in.
FAQs
- What is a builder hoist used for?
It lifts construction material such as bricks, sand, cement and concrete to upper floors along a steel mast. - What capacities are available?
Jaypee offers 1 ton and 2 ton models, which carry about 750 kg and 1500 kg of material respectively. - Should I choose a diesel or electric tower hoist?
Choose electric if you have a steady power supply and want quieter, cheaper operation. Choose diesel for remote sites without reliable grid power. Note that diesel versions have a lower maximum working height. - How high can the hoist go?
Standard working heights range from 40 m to 125 m depending on the model. Jaypee has also erected a 2 ton winch up to 140 m on a project. - Is the mast easy to transport and assemble?
Yes. Most of the structure is made in 3 m sections, which are easy to carry and put together on site.
