Rope Suspended Platform – Gondola Hoist by Jaypee India Limited

Rope Suspended Platform Hoist: A Safer Gondola Hoist for High-Rise Facade Work

Working on the outside of a tall building is one of the riskiest jobs in construction. Painters, glass installers and cleaners hang metres above the ground, so the equipment holding them up has to be dependable. A good suspended platform hoist gives the crew a steady, controlled place to stand and a way to move along the facade without scaffolding.

Jaypee India builds this equipment as a rope suspended platform hoist, often called a gondola hoist. Here’s how it works, what it can do and how to pick the right model.

What Is a Rope Suspended Platform?

A rope suspended platform is a working platform that hangs from steel wire ropes attached to a suspension unit on the roof. Motors on the platform pull it up and down the ropes, so workers can stop at any height along the wall.

Because it’s a temporary structure, it goes up for a project and comes down afterwards. That makes it far quicker to deploy than fixed scaffolding on a tall facade, and it takes up no space at ground level.

Where a Gondola Hoist Is Used

Teams use this gondola hoist for a surprisingly wide range of work:

  • Painting, finishing and decorating the outer walls of high-rise buildings
  • Installing curtain walls and exterior components
  • Cleaning, inspection and repair of facades
  • Fitting billboards on tall buildings
  • Work on large tanks, chimneys, dams, bridges and derricks
  • Welding, cleaning and painting of large ships

If a structure is tall and you need to reach its outer surface, a platform like this is usually the answer.

Safety Features of the Rope Suspended Platform Hoist

Safety comes first with any suspended platform hoist, because a failure means a fall. Jaypee’s engineers built several protections into the design:

  • Anti-tilting safety lock: engages if a rope breaks, so the platform doesn’t swing down
  • Electrical control system: manages movement from the platform
  • High quality steel wire rope: made for repeated loading
  • Optional overload sensor: warns or cuts off when the load goes beyond the limit
  • Cable locking angle of 3 to 8 degrees: the lock grips the rope when the platform tilts past this range
  • Advanced suspension mechanism: holds the load steadily from the roof

The anti-tilting lock is the feature worth asking about. If one rope fails, the platform shouldn’t tip and drop the crew. This lock is designed for exactly that case.

The hoists also use less energy than older designs, which helps on long jobs where the platform runs for hours.

Quality Checks Behind the Machine

We bring the best innovations to this product, and at many levels we check even the smallest details, from procurement to raw materials, so that our quality and standards stay high. Jaypee builds the platform from stainless steel and aluminium, and each unit goes through strength checks before it leaves the factory.

Rope Suspended Platform Hoist Models and Technical Data

Two models are available. They share the same suspended configuration, anti-tilting safety and travel speed, and differ in safe working load and motor power.

Feature JSP-1000 JSP-1000(S)
Configuration Suspended type Suspended type
Safety system Anti-tilting Anti-tilting
Speed 8 to 10 m/min 8 to 10 m/min
Rated capacity 1000 kg 1000 kg
Safe capacity 800 kg 900 kg
Rated power 1.8 kW x 2 2.2 kW x 2
Locking cable angle 3° to 8° 3° to 8°
Suspension mechanism 425 kg 425 kg
Counterweight (approx.) 1000 kg 1000 kg

A load display or load cell with overload cut-off is available as an optional accessory.

JSP-1000 or JSP-1000(S): Which One?

Both are rated for 1000 kg, but the safe working load is where they differ. The standard JSP-1000 allows 800 kg, while the JSP-1000(S) allows 900 kg with a slightly stronger motor. If your crew carries heavy tools, glass panels or paint drums, the extra 100 kg of margin on the S model is worth having. For lighter cleaning and inspection work, the standard model does the job.

Why Buy a Gondola Hoist from Jaypee

Jaypee India is a hoist manufacturer with years of experience in passenger hoists, material hoists and tower hoists. That wide range matters, because the people designing your gondola hoist have already solved similar lifting and safety problems on other machines.

The factory sits at Howrah, with offices in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai handling quotes, spares and service. For tall-building work, quick support is part of the safety plan, since a crew shouldn’t be left waiting on a part while the job is half done.

FAQs

  1. What is a rope suspended platform hoist used for?
It lifts workers and tools along the outside of tall structures for painting, cleaning, repair, installation and inspection.
  2. What is the difference between JSP-1000 and JSP-1000(S)?
Both are rated for 1000 kg. The JSP-1000 has a safe capacity of 800 kg and 1.8 kW x 2 motors, while the JSP-1000(S) has a safe capacity of 900 kg and 2.2 kW x 2 motors.
  3. How fast does the platform move?
Both models travel at 8 to 10 metres per minute.
  4. What happens if a rope breaks?
The anti-tilting safety lock engages and holds the platform, so it doesn’t fall or tip.
  5. Is an overload sensor available?
Yes. A load display and overload cut-off using a load cell is available as an optional accessory.
